Kira is currently a graduate student pursuing a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology at Eastern Michigan University. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and English from Kalamazoo College in 2014. Kira has experience working clinically with children, adolescents, and adults in treating a variety of mental health problems, including anxiety disorders, mood and depressive disorders, ADHD, learning disorders, and behavior disorders. Specific evidence-based treatments that Kira has experience with include Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Parent Management Training (PMT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). Kira also has experience treating Selective Mutism and has worked as a counselor for the Confident Kids Camp, a week-long intensive therapy camp for children with Selective Mutism, since 2016. Her research interests include studying parent-child relationships and understanding how stressful life events impact social and emotional development in children. Prior to beginning graduate school, Kira also worked with children in school settings, including working as an assistant teacher in a 4th grade classroom and working as a preschool teacher. Kira is passionate about working with children and families experiencing mental health.
