This half-day interactive workshop is intended for school-based professionals and practicing clinicians seeking practical, evidence-based approaches to school refusal. Led by Dr. Becky Thomson, School Refusal Program Director at Thriving Minds, the training focuses on assessment, re-entry planning, and family–school collaboration to support long-term attendance.

Participants will learn how to:

• Assess School Refusal Effectively
  Gather and interpret key information to understand contributing factors and guide targeted intervention planning.

• Create Developmentally Appropriate Re-Entry Plans
  Design stepwise school re-entry plans using exposure principles, academic accommodations, and individual student strengths.

• Collaborate with Families to Support Attendance
  Apply effective communication strategies with parents or caregivers to reinforce re-entry plans at home and address family-based barriers to attendance.

This workshop is highly interactive and includes frequent opportunities for discussion and application. Participants are encouraged to join with video and audio enabled to support engagement and collaboration.
