Becky Thomson, Ph.D., LLP
Dr. Thomson is a Limited Licensed Psychologist (LLP) who specializes in working with children, adolescents, and families. She received her PhD in School Psychology from Michigan State University, and obtained specialized training in pediatric psychology within Michigan Medicine (University of Michigan Health System) primary care clinics and specialty clinics at C.S. Mott Children's Hospital. She also has experience providing psychological services to children and families in school and private practice settings, and her clinical interests include working with children with anxiety, depression, adjustment disorders, toileting concerns, ADHD, and disruptive behaviors. Becky has specific expertise in working with children with selective mutism. She was a counselor and teacher at Confident Kids Camp (an intensive week-long treatment program for children with selective mutism) for three summers and provided individual psychotherapy to children with selective mutism as a part of a one-year practicum at Thriving Minds Behavioral Health Center.
In her practice, Becky works closely with parents and schools, and uses behavioral and cognitive-behavioral therapy techniques. She is data-driven in her approach by setting clear, specific goals and using objective data to monitor children's progress. When needed, Becky conducts psychoeducational evaluations and functional behavior assessments (FBAs) to uncover strengths and weaknesses, pinpoint the function of children's behavior(s), and/or select appropriate evidence-based treatment strategies.
