Approach to Treatment

Emily believes that each child, family, and system has the capacity to heal and change themselves. She uses a warm, positive, and nonjudgmental approach to transform the way children and adolescents engage with their environments, thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. Emily centers the client in her treatment approach and tailors’ evidence-based practices to the unique needs, strengths, and goals of each child she works with. She collaboratively engages with parents, families, and schools to advocate for the needs of children and adolescents.

Emily utilizes evidence-based practices including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Exposure Response Prevention (ERP), Behavior Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Parent Management Training (PMT), Comprehensive Behavioral Intervention for Tics (CBIT), Habit Reversal Training (HRT), and psychoeducational testing.

Experience and Training: Emily earned her M.A. in School Psychology in 2022 and her doctorate in School Psychology from Ball State University in July 2026. She completed an APA-accredited clinical psychology internship at Boys Town in Omaha, Nebraska, providing therapy and consultative services in outpatient and residential settings. During internship, she worked with children, adolescents, and families, providing individual and family therapy for concerns including depression, anxiety, trauma, ADHD, behavioral difficulties, school refusal, tic disorders, and parent management training.

More about Me: Emily enjoys lifting weights in the gym, going on walks and hikes, and any activity that gets her moving. She loves to spend time in nature and enjoys camping with her family in the beautiful Michigan outdoors. She is also an avid adventurer and has solo-traveled to many destinations across the globe, including but not limited to, Nicaragua, Thailand, Brazil, and Albania.
